Well the storyboards were done a little while ago and I thought I would focus my attention on practicing my coloring. The following drawing was not drawn by me but by comic artist Franchesco whom I had the pleasure of meeting at the San Diego Comic Con back in August. He contacted me before this via email a while back and asked me if I could color one of his drawings which to me was an honor since I admire his work. I finally got around to coloring it and here it is:

Here is an update on the World of Warcraft drawing. This version shows 3 characters, a Human Female Mage, A Gnome Male Rogue and a Human Male Paladin. They are outside of Stormwind and ready to go adventuring as the Mage opens a portal.

Heres a drawing of a jaguar I drew for my grandmother while on vacation using photo reference. Its simple and drawn with a lead pencil so you won't be seeing gradiations using different tones of drawing pencils. Work on the childrens book is progressing with the story 100% written, characters are designed(most of them) and now I am storyboarding all the scenes I am going to be illustrating. Keep coming back here for possible updates on the childrens book.

Casino Royale
Best James Bond movie ever. Finally just like Batman Begins, the director actually takes the subject matter more seriously and does good research giving us a more real, more human Bond. In this film which is the begining of it all, we see why James Bond is such a cold hearted womanizer. Like the commercials say, Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery. Eva Green? Shes the gorgeous lass from Kingdom of Heaven and she has a mean accent to accompany her charming, narcotic presence. A-

Normally I don't go see very many foreign movies in the theater due to their scarceness but I went with a friend and had a really good time. The main reason I went is because Penelope Cruz is the lead character and shes gorgeous in this movie. Once waify thin, Cruz has developed into a full figured raven-haired bombshell. Shes reminds me of Monica Bellucci but younger. Anyways, like most good foreign movies, this one is a drama and has great twists and turns and great character development but thats normal since its directed by Pedro Almodovar. Or so I am told. A+
Apocalypto
What a thrilling action movie! Apocalypto is the first big budget action movie without any Caucasion actors and a great exploration of a dominant precolombian culture. Essentially, Apocalypto is a chase movie that centers around the mayan empires fall as seen through the eyes of a young warrior (Jaguar Paw ) trying to save his wife and son. Throughtout the story, we witness Jaguar Paws growth into a brave warrior from the peaceful hunter he once was and experience the arrival of unwanted foreigners into the world he knows. We also witness an inaccurate yet stunning depicition of the Mayan city of Tikal as well as its sun worshipping inhabitants. This movie proves Mel Gibson is still a great director despite the small incidents he has with the media. That said, Mel Gibson should have researched the Mayans correctly before attempting to depict them in film. B
The Pursuit of Happyness
The Pursuit of Happyness is without sounding cliche, the feel good movie of the year. Yes, I really don't watch many of these movies at all if ever but what the hell, it looked good so I went. While sad and grim at times, I had a really good time watching it because of its happy yet predictable ending. Its simple but well made. Will Smith gives a great performance as does his son. Based on a true story. C+
Children of Men
Children of Men is a movie that can be a bit strong if you're not prepared for the violence. I went with a friend and she wasn't ready for the violence but me, I'm pretty desensitized by now so I enjoyed every minute of the explosions and gunfights. The movies realistic and gritty tone immerses you so much that at times while you watch Children of Men, you feel like you are side by side with Clive Owens character experiencing everything firsthand. Unfortunetly, the characters just don't grab you enough to make you like them and get attached to them they way you probably should. Pivotal characters die unexpectedly but I just didn't care about any of them and that makes Children of Men fall a few steps shy of greatness. Michael Caines standout performance is great in this movie and illustrates why hes making a name for himself in small yet well acted roles. Another thing I liked is that Children of Men is very relevant to the current political climate in the U.S.. Not many movies can say that. B-

Octavia E. Butler: Clays Ark
I'm not a huge fan of reading books or novels but this one grabbed me. I was visiting my older brother for vacation and grabbed this book off his shelf and started reading. Suddenly I couldnt put it down and was caught by how vivid and engrossing it was.
Neil Gaiman: Neverwhere
Leave it up to Neil to release a great gothic fantasy book and then adapt it to comics with Glenn Fabry. I guess I didn't quite picture Door the way shes drawn in the comic. I expected a child like Gaiman had described. Still not finished reading this one.
